Headgear has always been a huge part of fashion and is now becoming a must have in any closet. Your fashion pick can range from a casual ball cap, the playful trapper hat or the alluring turban, the strongest fashion statement of all.

As a fashion accessory, the turban has stood the test of time and broken all cultural boundaries.  Turbans are traditionally worn in Africa, the Middle East and Asian but have consistently lingered as a bold statement piece in Western cultures from the early 1700’s to date. Iconic starlets from the 30s and 40s such as Greta Garbo and Elizabeth Taylor embraced this look as a staple in their wardrobes.

This wrapped gem was recently brought back to the runway and the streets in 2010 and 2011 with designers such as Prada, Giorgio Armani and Issa. It’s safe to say that the look is still very fashionable and is still going strong.

So what are the rules to wearing the perfect turban?

I say there are no rules! The turban can be wrapped in multiple ways and can be worn with almost anything, from vintage to modern, from casual to official. Make it as complicated as you like, as big or small as you desire and all colors are applicable. So, for this season and the next, keep it classy, sexy and turban!
